What our Champions Say
What makes you a Skills and Employment Champion?
“Being a Champion allows me to directly connect local residents with meaningful career pathways while expanding our borough’s capacity to support and advocate for them. By sharing expertise across our network, we move beyond short-term, project-based funding and focus on building a permanent, resilient support infrastructure through true partnership. This ensures that expert skills and employment guidance are accessible to our community whenever they need it – not just when a specific programme happens to be running. The Champion catch ups and Community of Practice meetings also provide a wonderful opportunity to learn, and share challenges and opportunities. I am proud to display the Skills and Employment Champion digital badge the SLP has issued me.”
Why do you enjoy working with the South London Partnership?
“Working with the South London Partnership is hugely rewarding because it helps breaks down borough silos and amplifies our collective strength. The collaborative energy across the SLP brings invaluable additional expertise, capacity, resources, and shared learning directly into our Kingston Employment and Skills Partnership, and of course into our own council services. Together, we are trying to create a consistent, and engaging support infrastructure for residents, employers, providers, health services, educational institutions, and community partners across South London. This builds on the aspiration that no one gets left behind when trying to access training, especially for in-demand sectors, or finding meaningful and sustaniable employment, when they need support.“
