Improving existing services

Congestion is a major problem in South London and we are campaigning for existing services to be improved.

In particular the South London Partnership is strongly supportive of plans for ‘Metroisation’ of South London’s rail services.

South London has only 7 London Underground and 3 more London Overground stations. Two of our boroughs are served by no TfL run rails services at all. Instead our residents depend on the services provided by Southern Rail, South West Trains and Thameslink. These services need to be as frequent, reliable and comfortable as the London Underground and we want to work with Train Operating Companies and others to make this happen as soon as possible.

We also want to improve congestion of our roads and are working with Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk) to deliver the Healthy Streets agenda to make our streets more pleasant for walking and cycling.

That’s why we’re working with TfL to develop a long term plan which will help South London get the transport it needs to deal with London’s growth.
